Our Programs
Work with Heart
Lionheart WORKS offers a diverse range of programming designed to support participants in developing workplace skills and confidence. Many activities take place at our internal work sites, where individuals are taught and encouraged to practice appropriate workplace behavior and strong job performance with guided support and instruction. Participants can explore a variety of hands-on experiences, including gardening, art, cooking, home décor creation and sales, radio production, and tech related work. All of our internal work sites allow participants to build practical skills while discovering their interests, and while enjoying friendship and community. Our programs are used in both TeamWORKS and iWORKS services.
Lionheart Gardens
Lionheart Gardens is an organic garden tended by staff, participants, and volunteers from the community. Participants learn about growing and eating healthy food, maintaining sustainable garden practices, recycling and composting and the science associated with farming. Participants also provide chicken care. Once food is ready for harvest, individuals learn to harvest, wash, and package produce for delivery to local restaurants and Lionheart Life Center markets.
Lionheart Cottage
The Cottage is one of the internal worksites that Lionheart WORKS utilizes for training and employment opportunities. Through the creation of a small business environment, The Cottage offers design, production, and retail sales experience for our participants. This program utilizes and repurposes donated, repurposed, and available materials to create marketable art, sewn goods, woodwork, and home decor. All proceeds directly benefit the Lionheart Life Center. The Cottage is located at 160 Academy Street near downtown Alpharetta. They are open Mon-Thur 9am-1pm.
Lionheart Radio
lionheartradiousa.com is an online radio station that broadcasts 24/7. Lionheart began partnering with the Ed Isakson YMCA of Alpharetta staff to assist with their broadcast in 2015, and in 2019 the YMCA donated radio equipment to Lionheart. Volunteer job coaches have been fundamental in teaching participants to operate the sound board, interview participants and guests from the community, and share a wonderfully eclectic mix of music. The Lionheart Radio broadcast empowers participants to share their voices and their stories across the airwaves.
Lionheart Tech Site
The Tech Site is another Lionheart WORKS internal worksite. The Tech Site offers hands-on educational opportunities for participants who have an interest in technology. WORKS participants gain transferable, marketable technical skills related to computer repair, simple programming, and more. Tech Site participants learn to repair and refurbish donated computers, monitors, laptops, ipads, and phones. Lionheart donates many items to local community partners and offers sales of completed goods several times a year. All proceeds and donations directly benefit the Lionheart Life Center.

Lionheart Kitchen
Lionheart Works offers a weekly Culinary Skills class during which participants learn to prepare simple, practical meals in a supportive setting. Participants build confidence in kitchen safety, basic food preparation, and easy cooking techniques. The goal is to equip participants with the skills they need to independently prepare food at home, fostering greater independence and everyday life skills.
Lionheart Art
Lionheart Works offers weekly creative instruction where participants explore painting, sewing, and ceramics in a supportive, hands-on environment. Much of the artwork produced helps support the Cottage, giving each project a meaningful purpose. In addition, three times a year, we host inclusive community classes designed especially for adults with disabilities, providing opportunities for connection, creativity, and personal expression. These adaptive art classes are offered in partnership with the Alpharetta Arts Center.
