When I think of Jordan, Jada and Lionheart WORKS, I think of “Belongingness”. Lionheart WORKS' warm and loving reception of my adult children let me know that they were in a safe environment that was accepting of their special needs and because of that they would be able to thrive. That sense of belonging has allowed them to continue to develop the social, emotional and job readiness skills needed for today’s workforce. Jordan and Jada have come a long way in a short period.
The WORKS staff quickly noticed Jada’s love for the arts and that her pattern-making skills would possibly be a good fit for jewelry making. Her Job Coach, Ms. Robin, is a godsend! She and all of the wonderful staff that work in The Cottage have helped to build Jada’s confidence to a level where she felt she could make beautiful jewelry. Jada gained employment at The Cottage. I am so proud of Jada!
Jordan is not a big talker but the WORKS staff noticed he had good listening skills and paid attention to details. They knew he needed a job that would not pressure him in his areas of weakness and at the same time help strengthen his positive skills. The team helped him every step of the way, from the online job application to preparing his resume, and job interviews. Because of the staff at Lionheart WORKS, Jordan is now a permanent employee of UPS!!! He has successfully completed his 90 days probation and is now eligible for full benefits, which includes UPS 401K program! What a promising future! Thank you, Lionheart WORKS!!!
